Dan Patrick Leaving ESPN After 18 Years

Dan Patrick announced minutes ago that he will be leaving ESPN on August 17th. The final week will be a celebration of his 18 years with ESPN. He said he'll take some time off and then investigate other opportunities.

Dan will be missed. He has great guests and does not pander to athletes.

This seems awfully sudden. I wonder if the Tirico-Reynolds syndrome afflicted him.

Actually, he's been teasing a big announcement for a while now. It was supposed to be last Tuesday, July 3rd, but I think ESPN had him take the 5-day weekend to think it over.

I'll actually miss both him and Keith Olbermann. God forbid Colin Cowturd gets the slot. I do like Doug Gottlieb.

I dont blame him for leaving. After 18 years of living in Connecticut, I am surprised he didnt commit suicide multiple times.

If Dan Patrick was fired he wouldn't have been on the air today. He'd be sitting at home counting all the pennies in his big lump sum buyout from ESPN.

Um, thanks "Anonymous" for your reliable scoop.

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like Dan Patrick. I didn't like his radio show that much, and I got real tired of him real fast on TV.

Let's have more Rachel Nichols on TV instead.

I am going to start a fund to get Rachel Nichols' teeth fixed. It might be as simple as bleach and nicorette. I'm still living in the SDTV world, so I can't be sure.
