I keep hearing the age comparison, but I think people are forgetting that Jason Taylor is...Jason Taylor. Jeremy Shockey is a guy who has had one elite year (his rookie year) and a few other years that don't even put him in the top five players at his position.

I agree. As a Dolphins fan, I think it was a great trade for them. They are not a competitive team, and they get a #2 plus a late round pick for a guy who would play one, maybe two more years. Since the 'Skins are not "one player away" from contending, I don't really understand the deal from their perspective, but I'll take it for Miami.

Jeremy Shockey will be 28 when the season starts. Jason Taylor will be 34. That's why Shockey cost a little extra. The fact that the Skins gave up two picks for a guy who might only be there one year is the big issue.

True tuna. As a Ravens or Pats fan, we look at 5th and 6th round picks as Tom Bradys and Adalius Thomases. Of course, New Orleans took Colston in the 7th round, so they've had some late round luck.

I came upon your article while reading about my friend, Jeremy's, trade to the Saints. In my experience Jeremy is as competetive and hard working a player as exists in the NFL. He is also intensely loyal to his friends and team mates, and is well liked and respected around the league. These were qualities not lost on the late Mr. Mara. He will succeed and excel in New Orleans. There is litle doubt.
