So the Nats are the hottest team in baseball, having gone 11-4 in their last 15 games. They have one win less on the season than the O's and with 20 wins, are better than 5 teams in the majors. This is pretty amazing given that the following nine pitchers have started games for the Nats thus far this season:
Mike Bacsik
Shawn Hill
Jason Bergmann
Micah Bowie
Jason Simontacchi
Matt Chico
Levale Speigner
John Patterson
Jerome Williams
Nine starting pitchers just over 1/4 of the way through the season. The original starting five decimated by injuries, and pulling guys out of the bullpen who can give you quality innings from the mound. That's how you win games you're not supposed to. And I would give ten dollars to anyone outside of the Washington Metro Area, not affiliated with Elias Sports Bureau or ESPN, who could name four of those above 9 guys.
We have a .500 record against the NL East, which has three teams currently at .500 or above.
At this point, we're on track to avoid losing 100 games. If that happens, it's a total miracle of a season.

AL East > NL East
Wow. That statement barely deserves a response. But how many teams over .500 does the AL East have? NL East? You have the Red Sox. Congratulations.
It's much easier to be over .500 playing in AAAA.
The AL is playing almost .600 ball against the NL this season, and you simply can't claim that the Braves, Phillies and Marlins are better teams than the Yankees, Jays and O's.
.600 ball in what? Fourteen three-game series? 42 games. I'll admit, that would indicate that the AL is on average better than NL, but you don't exactly have an overwhelming sample size yet. Why don't we wait until actual interleague starts next month and not the brief "rivalry" series?
Going back to the original intent of this post, to show off how the Nats are a step above putrid over the first 50-60 games, hasn't that always been the modus operandi of the Expos franchise? Don't they expose talent only to lose it to good teams once free agency comes?
Not that there is a lot of talent on this team. They're basically hanging in there by playing the type of solid baseball Frank Robinson never could get them to play.

No, but I would compare the Royals to the Reds, the team that the Nats had just taken advantage of at the time you made your post noting that the Nats' record was almost equal to the Orioles'. Looks like everything is balancing out.
