WNBA... Expect Great

So that is apparently the newest slogan from the red-headed stepchild of David Stern and Pat Summitt. I personally prefered "We've Got Next" because of how pathetically hopeful the slogan was.

Anyway, the following came across my office e-mail at 9:57 this morning. Names, offices, and everything else has been blocked out to protect the innocent (including yours truly):

I have 2 tickets to tonight's Mystics game against the Atlanta Dream. Center court, sixth row. Any takers?

Hmm.... rainy night so not good for outdoor activities. D.C. United has no game. Nationals on the road. So the Mystics are the only show in town. I'll update if necessary if there are in fact any takers. Who's with me though in hypothesizing that said seats will be pleasantly unoccupied and Verizon Center purple for about 2.5 hours tonight.

Although seeing this (Ann Strother from the Atlanta Dream):

might not be such a bad thing.

I feel your pain. Maybe I will check out the two-time world champion Detroit Shock tonight. The Red Wings don't play another Stanley Cup Finals game until tomorrow. The Pistons don't play another Eastern Conference finals game until tomorrow. The Tigers are on the road and don't play until 10 eastern. Tough times in the D. How will I pass the time?

My heart bleeds for you. Last night Detroit had a tough decision: Red Wings in the Cup Finals or the Pistons in the Eastern Conf. Finals. Both at home in one night. You'd think the NHL and NBA could've arranged that better.

I will say, it has been kind of annoying having the Tigers/Pistons/Wings on all at the same time. But it works itself out:

1) Wings put the game away in the first period.

2) Watch the 2nd half of the Pistons game, the only part of a bball game that matters.

3) The Tigers have 100 games left, so what's the difference.

As for the Stix tix, does this mean the Mystics no longer lead the WNBA in attendance?

It is a joke. Same thing happened on Saturday and happens tomorrow night. Bettman was on local radio and deflected all the blame to the NBA saying that their schedule was in place a year ago. He said they tried everything they could. The thing is if they shared an arena like a lot of NBA/NHL cities it would have been fixed.

I know that no one really feels sorry for me, especially those deciding between Mystics and DC United.

And the Washington Bayhawks.

And on that note, everyone shed a tear for Hopkins, please.

Shed a tear for Hopkins? Is there some virus going around that only affects ugly chicks?

F**k Hopkins Lacrosse.

Hear, Hear J-Red. Way to go Cuse!

What the hell happened to Duke? Duke was supposed to win it all! How dare they lose. They've broken my heart 4 years in a row. So much for the 5th year advantage crap.

God punished Duke for the all the co-eds the players actually did rape but went unreported.
