Normally I hate this Miami-type swagger, but anybody who was at the game back in '03 had no doubt that the Terps were going to DESTROY UVA after seeing this pregame. Seriously, it's worth the 15. If you kickoff, you kick it out of bounds. If you receive the kickoff, UVA likely kicks the ball out of the end zone. The best thing about this moment was seeing the entire UVA team back down like pussies. And J-Red, check out Al Groh jawing at the Terp assistant coach. Maybe he was reminding him, just like he reminded you, that he was formerly an NFL coach.

that video was the oddest thing Ive ever seen...getting that fired up over a coin toss. Since I am not from Maryland, this must be your big rival, I thought you guys hated duke or is there a long line of teams and colleges you hate? Nice side board, by the way...goes to show you that everyone loves USC....victory!
It wasn't fired up over a coin toss. It was fired up because UVA is considered our football rival. The ACC scheduling is indicative of this in that UVA is not in our division but they are our one "rivalry game" that we are guaranteed every year (UVA is in Va Tech's division, so they would play each other anyway). I think many Terp fans would say that when it comes to football, we think of UVA in the same way we think of Duke in basketball. And both schools are cut from the same old of sanctimonious, smug, "I'm better than you" student bodies, which is the concept that Maryland strives to avoid. So believe me, we weren't pissed off that UVA won the coin toss. It was our turf, Thursday night football, huge bowl ramifications, and a football rival. And God, I hope it happens again Saturday night.
I don't hate UVA in either sport. They're just the biggest pain in the ass team we have to play, and we share recruiting turf.
Dewey, hating Duke is a year-round thing. I'm still pissed at Northwestern.
