1985 NBA Draft Lottery Controversy

I've reviewed the YouTube video of the 1985 NBA Draft Lottery. It could have been handled much better, but I don't think the Knicks were intentionally given the overall #1 pick.

But who cares about that? The Atlanta Hawks' GM in the video is Stan Kasten, currently the Nats GM. Apparently Stan is only 50-50 at resurrecting franchises.

I'm still skeptical about the conspiracy theorists. But I'm amazed that the video actually lent credence to the wild theories.

It was the first lottery, so you could expect it not to be perfect. Still, why did the accountant lay six envelopes and pretty much throw one of them? Why did they use flat envelopes in the first place, instead of little cubes? Why did the guy only spin the tumbler six times or so?
